Who is Owed Transparency?
Conflicting Ethics Within Local Partnerships
Abstract
World Treks is a competitive voluntourism provider hosting high school student groups across six continents. To accommodate their rapid growth, they rely on strong partnerships within their host countries and entrust local providers to vet new collaborators. During their programming in Ghana, a partnership with a local orphanage is both a highlight for students and source of ethical conflict for facilitators.
