Whose Job is it to Educate?
Abstract
What happens when host nationals' understanding of racism is different from that of the study abroad student? Whose job is it to educate others about U.S. students' experience with microagressions and racism? How can everyone involved with the study abroad process (home institution, student, host institution) work together to try and ensure students of color have a positive experience abroad? This case study provides a scenario on a student's experience when these questions go unanswered.
